Volatility

A measure of how risky a slot is, describing how often it pays and how large those payouts tend to be.

Volatility, sometimes called variance, describes the risk profile of a slot. A high-volatility game pays out less often but with bigger wins when it does, while a low-volatility game delivers smaller wins more frequently. Medium volatility sits between the two.

Volatility does not change a game's RTP; it only affects the rhythm of wins and losses. High-volatility slots can swing your balance sharply, so they suit players with patience and a larger bankroll. Low-volatility titles offer steadier, smaller returns. Choosing a level that matches your budget and session length helps you play longer.

Example usage

  • Choosing a low-volatility slot for steadier, smaller wins
  • A high-volatility game with rare but large payouts
