Ontario's centralized self-exclusion program, BetGuard, went live on May 14, 2026. One registration at betguard.ca blocks access to every regulated online gambling site in the province, including OLG.ca.

One registration, all operators

Before BetGuard, self-exclusion was handled operator by operator, so a player had to repeat the process at each site. BetGuard changes that: one registration blocks existing and new accounts at every regulated site, including OLG.ca, and stops direct marketing to the player.

The AGCO introduced a new Registrar's Standard, 2.14.1, which took effect on May 14, 2026, and updated Standards 2.03, 2.14 and 3.01. Regulated operators must honour BetGuard exclusions.

How to register and get support

Anyone aged 19 or over can register at betguard.ca and choose a 6-month, 1-year or 5-year term, or a custom period. Use only the official site: on September 10, 2026, iGaming Ontario warned that third parties were impersonating BetGuard. ConnexOntario offers free, confidential support on 1-866-531-2600, and the Responsible Gambling Council and PlaySmart also offer tools and guidance.
